ELITE RIDER TRAINING COURSE INFORMATION
CBT and FULL LICENCE MOTORCYCLE TRAINING
Any exam or test can be a nerve wracking experience for most and “driving” tests
are no different. The sense of satisfaction when you finally have the freedom to
ride by yourself, with no restrictions other than the highway-
Test anxiety comes mostly from fear of the unknown and the fear of failure. The informal and relaxed nature of the training courses we offer will help you overcome both those fears. The full licence courses give you all that you need to prepare yourself well, this will help you to succeed on the test to the result we all want you to achieve, the examiner included!!
CBT (Compulsory Basic Training)
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was introduced in 1990 to equip new riders with basic
skills before riding unaccompanied on the road. CBT is not a test and there’s no
exam -
Full licence Training for the Practical Test
The purpose of the practical test is to prove that you can ride your motorcycle safely on the road. During your practical test your examiner will want to see you riding to the standards that you will have been learning on your rider’s course and according to standards set by the DSA for riding motorcycles on the road.
Riding is never predictable. Conditions or circumstances will demand that you use your initiative and common sense. You should be able to assess any situation and apply the guidance and training given to you on your course.
You shouldn’t assume that if you pass your test you’re a good rider with nothing more to learn. Learning to ride a motorcycle is a continuous process, and the tests are just one stage in your riding career. Do consider further rider development courses periodically in your riding career to improve skills and build on your experiences. This process will make you become a good all round, skilful, considerate motorcyclist.
If you are not a full motorcycle licence holder then you cannot accurately assess how long it will take you to gain enough skill and knowledge and confidence to pass the national test. Please allow us as professional experienced trainers, before booking your course, to assess you on your CBT course, (or free assessment session even before CBT), and to decide how much more training you will need to successfully gain your full motorcycle licence. Everyone is different and everyone learns at a different speed and everyone is affected by their nerves differently. Most people do not need more than 5 days full licence training, but inevitably some people will take longer. However long it takes is no matter, because you will reach your goal and pass!
Courses
Full Licence Training Courses
To attend any of these courses the candidate must have a CBT certificate and have a UK licence with the correct vehicle entitlement: Category “A” (found on the paper part of the new type licence of a full licence). On a provisional licence, the categories originally applied for will be on the credit card part of the licence.
The three day “Super Course” £420 (If the test is taken on a separate 4th day cost is £420). For those who have some riding experience either riding on a CBT certificate regularly or, have motorcycle experience from perhaps a competitive background, these people will have some bike handling skills. Those who have no particular experience may still use this course if they have a knack for learning at a quicker pace, (as assessed by us), and don’t suffer nerves much.
The four day “Standard Novice Course” £520 (If the test is taken on a separate 5th day cost is £520). This course is generally for those who have no experience of motorcycling and perhaps have only just taken the CBT. The student won’t have a history of bad riding habits, which is always helpful in the process of learning the DSA riding system.
The five day “Super Novice Course” £620 (If the test is taken on a separate 6th day cost is £620). This course is for those people with no experience of motorcycles except that gained from the CBT course, and want to take a slower learning pace where they won’t feel under quite so much pressure. One way of self help is to take a little longer to prepare than the minimum. This can take pressure off in a learning environment and gives extra confidence when taking the test. Perhaps a little extra time and money spent now will avoid the need to spend more time and money later!.
However, if a person has completed a course and failed their test, extra training days to polish up their riding before another test day are at a special discount price of £85 per day instead of the £120 normal day fee. On the candidate’s second test day, that fee is set at £100 inclusive of the DSA test fee.
Evenings are available for rider training. These sessions are conducted when the ambient light is good for full licence test preparation. Cost £25 per hour.
The Pass Plus Motorcycle Riders Course. 1 day £110 (2 days optional £200)
A course designed for “new licence” holders who have now been riding for a while since their test. Could be six weeks of solid riding or six months more leisurely riding, but familiarity is setting in, either now in a comfort zone but without skill improvement or, bad habits are now creeping in!! This course will flush all that away and refresh the skills and move you on a stage further in your development. Not full blown advanced training but not just test standard riding either. This course will move you on a bit in skills such as; filtering, traffic riding, better faster more accurate overtaking skills, twisty road riding, motorway skills, understanding more about cornering accurately and safely. Iron out any weaknesses you as the rider have discovered and can’t seem to change. Go on book your self on this course, enjoy your riding learn a little bit more….
